Pellet Gun Incident Near School: No Threat Found

Staff Report / QueenCreeklocal.org

The Queen Creek Police Department (QCPD) provided an update regarding an incident on Oriole Way and 225th Street, near Katherine Mecham Barney Elementary School, where a person was reported to be in possession of a firearm.

Authorities responded to the scene and swiftly detained one individual. As a precaution, the school was placed on lockdown during the initial investigation. It was later determined that the individual was using a pellet gun to shoot birds, which is not a criminal activity directly related to the school.

Arizona Game & Fish has been contacted regarding the situation. The QCPD has reassured the community that there is no ongoing threat or danger related to the incident. There were no reported injuries, and the school was cleared, with QCPD remaining on site to assist with early release for students.

The investigation remains active, and the QCPD encourages the community to report any suspicious activity or safety concerns by calling 480-358-3500 or 9-1-1 in emergencies.
